ED HOOD


I teach Spanish language and literature courses in the Department of Modern Languages of Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff (NAU).

I was born in North Carolina, where I lived for nine years.  I grew up in New Jersey, Kwajalein and Illinois. I have traveled, studied and lived in several Latin American countries. Before pursuing a teaching career, I  spent eight years in California, where I completed graduate studies in Spanish at San Diego State University and the University of California, Irvine. I have taught at NAU, Flagstaff, since 1991. 

My academic interests include Mexican and Central American literature, Literary translation, Latin American film and the works of Gabriel García Márquez.

My publications include: La ficción de Gabriel García Márquez: repetición e Intertextualidad, El corneta by Roberto Castillo (student edition), and translations of several Central American novels: The Lost Chronicles of Terra Firma by Rosario Aguilar; Little Red Riding Hood in the Red Light District by Manlio Argueta;  Face of the Earth, Heart of the Sky by Mario Roberto Morales,  The Bugler by Roberto Castillo.
