Hello to all. My name is Sheila Foley and I am a junior studying special Ed and elementary education. I am looking forward to this semester because I will be giving more attention to special education and will hopefully learn more about each area and where my interests lay. I was born in Indianapolis, IN and grew up in San Diego, CA, two very different cities. However, as much as I love California I feel the need to explore other options and maybe even get to know my roots a little better back in the Midwest. So this brings me to the next big question...where will I student teach? Well, I had many ideas in my head and have come to the conclusion that things change and I must take every idea with some slack. So I do believe I will go on back to San Diego to get started and from there hopefully see what else is out there. I think a reason why I am feeling called to special education is to be of some assistance to those who are having difficulties in their life and to relieve some of that stress. My only fear is that I realize it is not what I am set out to do. With time and experience I know I will gain much clarity and direction. In terms of experience, I do not have a lot but am willing to take in as much as I can from school so I feel prepared when I set out to teach. I am involved in my church, the Newman Center, where I am a student intern and a lector at mass on Sundays. Hopefully, in some small way this experience I have will encourage me to do my best and feel confident as a future teacher!
