Opinion Paper 1
Opinion Papers OP
The four opinion papers are due during the semester. These are to be posted
at the virtual conference center on the Thursday of the week each appears
on the syllabus. OP1 is due week 3. The "papers" should be approximately
4-5 paragraphs in length (up to a page or so, single spaced in 12 pt font).
You are asked to select two of the topics and answer them using your opinion
regarding the topic. Remember to tell why you feel that way - Do your
best to justify your response. You do not have much room so be
concise and thoughtful. You are expected to repond to at least one other
person's OP. Please keep a copy saved on a disk (prior to posting) as
occassionally the posting can go down or you can be disconnected. The
copy will safeguard you. If there are ever any problems such as the VCC
goes down, e-mail the assignment to the professor.
Opinion Paper 1 Due Thursday 5pm
Select two of the four options below. Although they seem simple at first,
really think about the statements- especially from yours and others' views-
before answering. Examples are always welcome.
Option A
Urbanization and its effects have been necessary.
Option B
Automobile and lifestyles' impacts on the landscape - Have we gained or
lost and should we take action? Wasn't this nation founded on personal
freedoms?
Option C
The public's view of planning is not really important. Informed practitioners
should make the decisions because the general public is unaware of nuances..
Option D
Reactionary movements are necessary in order to make planning more inclusive.
Status quo is too easy to continue.
Once you have finished you should:
Go on to Theory and Models
or
Go back to Planning History
