We bought JJ (Black Jack) on July 14. He is a red silver, 40 inch Shetland pony.
| Our first look at JJ- living in an alfalfa field in Joseph City, AZ - FAT. | Heavy Shetland mane, if he were grey, he would be called a dappled grey. His coloring is a liver chestnut base and so he is a Red Silver. First day - 7/15/02 |
| Gabby was immediately enthusiastic. | Somebody's been chewing on this tail and Gabby will probably do so too. |
| JJ's forelock hid his eyes. | JJ was "green broke" to driving so we immediately began practicing. |
| JJ in his first harness. | On the road, in front of our house with the San Francisco Peaks in the background. DRY summer with lots of wind. |
| Rumbling down Kevin's Way from Highway 89- this is the passenger's view. | Finally, in September, the box stall for JJ and Gabby with a dutch door. Robin stands ready to hand me the shovel. |
| Taking the neighbors around the block - Sept. | Finally some late summer flowers. |
| The red in JJ's coat shows up in this photo. | This was October. The last of the fall flowers are making a brave show while snow clouds gather. This is the path through the meadow near our house. |
| December! Red velvet bows on his headstall and sleighbells on his harness. JJ has grown a winter coat and his new harness finally arrived. Sunset Crater is in the background- the view from our backyard. | Yes! Very cold and windy that day. I had layer upon layer. |
|
Robin took this photo - I keep it with me to remind myself why I am on a diet. JJ and I share some similarities - easy keepers. Gabby almost 3 yrs. old- a min. donkey with a giant personality. |
