ATHLETIC TRAINING

NAU Seniors attend "2008 Athletic Training Day" at the State Capital

The Athletic Training Education Program is a unit within the Physical Therapy and Athletic Training Department of the College of Health and Human Services. It is committed to preparing students for entry into graduate health professional and academic programs and careers in allied health and athletic settings. Student preparation is accomplished through the development of a solid foundation in the basic sciences, the generation of new knowledge specific to the area of athletic training, and the dissemination of the most current information in the field. Additionally, application of new knowledge is accomplished through service to the university, community and surrounding regions in the areas of exercise, health, and human function and performance.

The objectives of the Athletic Training Education Program are to:

  1. Offer quality undergraduate education in Athletic Training.
  2. Conduct scholarly activity that advances our knowledge in Athletic Training and supplements the education of our undergraduate students.
  3. Help disseminate that knowledge to the community and surrounding region, and apply the knowledge gained through service to the department, college, university, region and the profession.
  4. Provide educational and research opportunities for groups under represented in the professions served by Athletic Training.
