What this website is for

This is my personal website at NAU. I hope it contains SOME interesting information. I also use it for website development training.

About me
I am a native born Arizonan and besides Arizona, grew up in various places around the world, including California (its own planet), Texas (its own Country) and Germany. Most of my youth was spent here in Arizona in the central Arizona area. I had the opportunity to become friends with an old Arizona pioneer named George back in the late 60's and he introduced me to hunting, fishing and rock hounding and we got to travel to many interesting wild places in the State. I learned of places where quail were plentiful, the location of little known fishing ponds and sites of ruins with intact pottery that he taught me not to disturb. George had been a pecan farmer in Glendale, waaay out of town at the intersections of 43rd Ave. & Glendale until he sold his land for development of housing in that area.

During my time in Germany I visited many castles, boated on the Rhine, visited vineyards and skied in the Alps. My favorite thing as a kid in Germany was to visit the old graveyards near castles and read the headstones and marvel at their age, headstones I remember were TRULY ancient. I was able to travel to many places outside of Germany as well, including Rome, where I got to visit the Vatican, see the sites and visit the catacombs and have a REAL espresso in an Italian cafe and even went to a restaurant to get a real pizza- which, by the way, they could not prepare as they had no idea what it was!

After living in many different places I settled down in Arizona again, and it is still by far the best place to live, but no longer as good a place to live as it was back in the 70's, before the huge population increase. I spent my first career as a Deputy Sheriff in Maricopa County and was able to retire from there after 20 years, 6 months and moved to Flagstaff, where I have been since 1999. Since 2000 I have worked for NAU in the PC Support area and if you need your computer fixed on the NAU campus you very well may see me show up.

What I do away from work includes professional bass fishing! I fish in 4 different circuits- 2 Arizona circuits and 2 western region circuits, fishing in Washington, California and Arizona. I also golf and have about a 15 handicap (it used to be lower but I don't get out as often anymore & everyone knows that golfers lie about that anyway), I enjoy woodworking, am learning welding, trying to learn how to play the guitar and I used to fly radio control airplanes, mostly sailplanes, but haven't had enough time to do that for several years now. The thing I enjoy the most though is bowhunting, specifically elk, but have not been drawn to go on that hunt in many years now. I have, however, taken a bull elk that qualifies for the Pope&Young record book, which is thus far the pinnacle of my hunting career. I have been able to do many interesting things and enjoy living in Flagstaff now.
