Assistive Technology Implementation

In this module, you will gain an understanding of the principles we use when implementing assistive technology within a classroom, work-site, or into someone’s everyday activities. We will discuss what is involved in making assistive technology tool implementation successful and the steps you can take to effectively implement assistive technology in your classroom or for your client. Part of the implementation process is to start with good choices of AT tools and these choices are based on sound assessment practices. In this module and later in the course we will look at several assessment methods and the forms used in documenting and reporting on the process.

Objectives:
1. Describe best practices for AT implementation and assessment.

2. Describe assessment methods.
3. Describe the Re-S(C)ETT process.
4. Review forms that assist practitioners in documenting AT assessment and implementation.
