Module 3 - Overview

In this module, you will gain an understanding of the principles that are used when implementing specific assistive technology tools within a classroom, work-site, or into someone’s everyday activities. You will learn about the features of various assistive technology tools and consider implementation plans for the effective use of AT tools in your classroom or work environment.

Objectives:

1. Describe and understand the features of AT tools for reading, writing, math, science, communication, workstation ergonomics, access, independent living, and play/recreation;
2. Compare features of various types of AT tools, including text readers, portable word processors, talking word processors, screen magnification software; alternative keyboards and mice, etc.
3. Describe the components of AT service delivery systems for individuals throughout the age span.
