The AAcolor photograph ofGL will prepare carbonate and non-carbonate fossils for submission to an AMS 14C laboratory. Mollusks are cleaned according to the standard procedure used for amino acid analysis, followed by dissolving an optimal proportion of shell weight in purified acid. For samples with abundant ostracodes, shells are cleaned using the standard amino acid procedure, then hand-picked to derive 3-5 mg of clean material. Prepared samples are returned to collector or forwarded directly to an AMS laboratory. AMS analyses are charged directly to the collector.
