Viewing the Source Code

To see how a page was created, you simply need to view the "source file." After the page you want to view has finished loading, pull down the "View" menu box and select "Document Source." If the page you're looking at is using frames, you can also view the source of an individual frame by clicking once in the frame and then selecting "View...Frame Source."

This will bring up the document source, a standard text file. By looking at the text file, you will be able to see how the different tags are used to change and format the text.

Notice the information inside the "< " and ">" symbols "tag" the text so Netscape will display it accordingly.

To see how this works, click on this web page template. Once it is displayed, click "View" in the Menu Bar and select "Document Source."
