Paleogeography of Central Arizona during extrusion of Hickey Basalts (16-12 Ma).

Widespread and low-viscosity basaltic lavas (Richard Holm, personal communication, 2001) filled valleys and disrupted stream deposition across the region south of the Mogollon Rim. Not all Hickey Basalt is shown on this map; in some areas, all but the highest terrane was mantled by Hickey Basalt. Intercalated braided stream and lacustrine deposits within the Hickey Basalt demonstrate that fluvial and lacustrine conditions continued, although likely as deranged stream deposits.
