ATHLETIC TRAINING APPLICATION

Applications to the Athletic Training Education Program are due by February 15th each year.

Application for 2010 [MS Word]

Admission to the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) is highly competitive.

Admission decisions are based on the coursework you’ve completed, your grade point average (2.75 minimum - all college coursework), your experience in athletic training (80 hours of observation in an athletic training room OR 1 year as a high school athletic training student), your letter of application, letters of recommendation, an interview, and practical examination.

NAU Observation Guidelines / Observation Log

Students applying for admission must have completed a minimum of two semesters of college-level coursework (or in progress) including the following courses or their equivalents with a grade of C or better: PSY 101, BIO 181, AT 200, and HS 200.

Students who have completed at least four semesters of college-level coursework (or in progress) must have also completed BIO 201, BIO 202, NTS 256, and CHM 151, CHM 151L, and PHY 111.

Students may be placed on probation if GPA falls below a 2.75 or you do not receive a “C” or better in a course required for the major. Students on probation will be assigned limited or no field experience.

Upon admission, students will be required to have a physical examination by a physician of your choice, show proof of the following immunizations (hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, and diphtheria), and attest that they meet the technical standards established by the program and Disability Support Services. Upon notification of acceptance to the program, students should obtain First Aid/CPR (Professional Rescuer) certification, and be prepared to show proof of current certification when they begin the program in the Fall. Additionally, an official copy of your transcripts from all institutions attended must accompany your application.
