Week 1: 1/14 - 1/20
To complete this activity successfully, you should:
VCC Activities
1. Many weeks a new activity will be introduced on the VCC. A variety of interesting activities will be posted. Guests will offer their expertise and give students an opportunity to ask questions. On occasion students will try on someone else’s “shoes” and participate in online role playing, engage in cyperspace group assignments or relax at the online “coffee shop” to kick around new ideas. Participants are encouraged to offer suggestions for online activities.
2. Each activity will be worth 5 - 30 points. For full credit students should respond to the discussion on at least two separate days with at least 10 lines total of meaningful comments. Points will only be given for weekly assignments that are completed during that same week. Typically the deadline is every Sunday at midnight.
3. There are several Bulletin Boards on the VCC (recommended reading, upcoming events, legislative and policy updates, and "hot picks"). By May 5, 2002, students should have posted at least five separate entries on the VCC bulletin boards. These bulletin boards will serve as a way of sharing resource information located while taking this course. Each entry will be worth 2 points for a maximum of 10 points. Just a sentence or two is fine.
4. Students are expected to comply with established VCC etiquette guidelines.
1. Students will be asked to comment on many disability-related topics. Every student is expected to respond to each topic. There will likely be lively and very thoughtful discussions. Everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and is entitled to express their opinion. However, in doing so appropriate language is expected and personal attacks will not be tolerated.
2. The content of VCC discussions must remain among only the participants of this conference. Please honor the confidentiality of comments made by your classmates. Reproduction of the discussions would violate this assumption.
1. Use a word processor when you’re responding to an assignment. Then copy and paste your work into the VCC text box for two very good reasons: 1) you can use your spell checker before you submit your assignment, and 2) you can save a copy of your assignment just in case the VCC system fails to add your entry.
2. If you are using a computer in an on-campus lab, be sure to close out of the VCC when you are done so that the next user can’t enter the conference and view or corrupt your work.
Now
go to the VCC and introduce yourself.
