CSD SUMMERS-ONLY TRACK
The Summers Only track was created as a means for working professionals in speech
pathology to obtain a master's degree. The Summers-Only track is a practical and cost-effective way for
the working professional to earn their graduate degree while continuing to work during the academic year.
You are eligible for the Summers-Only program if, AT THE TIME OF APPLYING:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or its equivalent) and
- You have completed all of the prerequisite courses listed below (see #3), and
- You have, at a minimum, an SLPA license or its equivalent in your state. You will have to provide us with a copy, and
- You are employed at least 20 hours/week as, at a minimum, an SLPA or its equivalent, and
- You are employed under the direction of an ASHA-certified supervisor. You will have to provide us with a copy of your
supervisor’s current ASHA membership card. Actual supervision of at least 25% of your direct clinical contact hours is
not required until after your third summer at which time you start your two practica in your school setting.
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in an area other than Speech-Language Pathology and
- You have completed all of the prerequisite courses listed below (see #3), and
- You have, at a minimum, an SLPA license or its equivalent in your state. You will have to provide us with a copy, and
- You are employed at least 20 hours/week as, at a minimum, an SLPA or its equivalent, and
- You are employed under the direction of an ASHA-certified supervisor. You will have to provide us with a copy of
your supervisor’s current ASHA membership card. Actual supervision of at least 25% of your direct clinical contact
hours is not required until after your third summer at which time you start your two practica in your school setting.
- You have the following prerequisite courses completed with a grade of B or better to be competitive. Prerequisite courses include:
- Phonetics
- Anatomy and Physiology of Speech and Hearing
- Communication Development in Children
- Audiology
- Speech-Language Sciences
- Hearing Science
- Neurological Foundations of Speech, Language and Hearing
