  A Different Perspective

I would like each one of you to try each of the exercises that Swimme gives for experiencing our place in the universe. Please take time to do each of these exercises, perhaps working on one exercise every day/night. Then discuss with each other the questions that follow.

Exercises:
1. Experience the Earth rotating away from the Sun, pages 26-30.

2. Experience the Milky Way, page 47-54.

3. Take the “Local Universe Test,” pages 56. This will take a bit of planning, so plan ahead.

4. Find Sagittarius and realize that you are staring into the center of the Milky Way, pages 58-59.

5. Understand what a vacuum is and explore the reality of “fecund emptiness,” pages 91-96.

Discussion Questions:

1. Share with each other your experiences in doing these exercises.
2. Contemplate together what the repercussions of such a change in perspective mean for our understanding of nature.

Once you have finished you should:

Go on to Conclusion
or
Go back to Seeing Clearly
