  Module 3:
Environmental Perspectives

In this module, “Environmental Perspectives” we will explore historical and modern environmental perspectives. We will look at the construction of U. S. environmental policy and we will learn about the formation of the modern Environmental Movement and its historical roots. For this module we will use Anthony Penna’s book, “Nature’s Bounty.” This book is especially useful because it offers us documents and other primary source material with which to understand the historical precedents that have shaped our current views of “nature” and our current environmental policies.

Objectives:
1. To understand how environmental policy has shaped the ways in which land, animals, water and air are cared for and used.

2. To understand the evolution of the environmental movement and assess its current activity.

3. To understand how we are co-creators of “society” and to understand how we can get involved in helping to shape environmental policy and preservation.
