1. Description of a lesion
Characteristics
Terms used to describe lesions
Types of diagnosis (7)
2. Variants of normal, and benign conditions of unkown etiology
3. Inflammation and repair disorders
4. Immune response disorders
5. Developmental disorders
6. Neoplastic disorders
7. Genetic disorders
8. Manifestation of systemic disease

Each disease should include:

1. Differential diagnosis
2. Predilection
3. Clinical appearance
4. Radiographic appearance
5. Treatment

Pathology Paper

You are to write a paper on a pathological lesion you find on a patient in the Dental Hygiene clinic. The lesion you select should not be a variation of normal anatomy. You may have to consult with a senior student to find a patient with a lesion. No late paper will be accepted. Therefore it is imperative that you start looking for a patient now.

Minimally your paper should include:
·
A complete and accurate description of the patient's lesion.
·
A photo of the lesion
·
History of the patient
·
Chief Complaint
·
Present medical conditions
·
Significant medical history
·
Significant dental history
·
A narrative of your discussion with the patient regarding the lesion.
·
A narrative of your discussion with the dentist regarding the lesion.
·
The differential and definitive diagnosis and your rational for diagnosis.
·
The etiology, predilection, location, clinical features, radiographic features, treatment and diagnostic process of the classic condition or disease.
·
A referral to a specialist, the rational for the referral and copy of referral form used.

The length of the paper is not as important as the accuracy and completeness of the above information.
