I am honored to be part of
| Associate Professor I had a split position between the School of Forestry and the Center for Environmental Sciences and Education (CESE). I taught natural resource and land management policy in the School of Forestry and conduct research in Wilderness restoration and international protected area policy. In CESE my responsibility was to inject policy analysis into the core curriculum of environmental sciences. We believe that closing the gap between policy and science is an important step to improving local, regional, national and internationial environmental policy. Director I also served as the Director for the Colorado Plateau Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CPCESU). The mission of the CPSESU is to facilitate federal land management, environmental, and research agencies, to work with the nation's universities to meet several science-based goals in the 21st century. These goals are: high-quality science, usable knowledge for resource managers, responsive technical assistance, continuing education, and cost-effective research programs. Research Interests My research interests include international protected area policy, policy change and management of Russian Zapovedniks (strict nature preserves), American wilderness policy, natural resource management and wildland recreation.
