VISA
We will all need a Visa from Russia.  The most difficult part about this is arranging an invitation.  I WILL arrange for an invitation but you will have to supply a passport number to me adn then apply on your own.  When you fill out the application you must indicate which towns we will visit.  Write in Moscow, Barnaul, Gorni-Altai, ArtiBash, Ust Koksa.  Other than that the information is rather clear.  I will have copies in your packet or you can download the application at
  RUSSIAN CONSULATE in San Fransisco

HEALTH INFORMATION

In general we will not encounter any unusual diseases or exposure to rare illnesses.  However, your doctor or the CDC will have a set of recommendations for vaccinations you should have before we go--diptheria, tetnus, hepatitus B are examples.

Go to the Center for Disease Control for information but read carefully because we are out of most zones of concern.  tick borne encephalitis is the biggest concern.  We should miss the tick season but we will be very careful about checking for ticks.  We will also have access to a post-bite vaccination at a hospital in Barnaul or you may choose a more expensive, exclusive hospital in Moscow.  I have had one post-bite vaccination and all went well (I did not have any symptoms but better safe than sorry).

AS PART OF YORU VACCINATIONS AS YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT   immune globulin (IG).  This is the most common preventative vaccination for tick borne encephalitis and Hepatitis A.
