Linking Transportation, Energy, Air Quality & Broader Environmental Issues

We concluded our last discussion with such contemporary and challenging topics as global warming, land use planning, new generation vehicles, international balance of trade, and others. Today we will explore some of these topics in greater depth through some common themes. More specifically, it makes little sense to discuss policies, laws and regulations dealing with urban air pollution without looking at a very big landscape. Remember Prof. Jeffery’s definition and discussion of "environmental law". To paraphrase, environmental law is any law that influences or affects our environment. There is no better example of the importance of this broad perspective than the intimate ties between our energy laws and policies and their impact on our air quality.
