3. Table 5.1 in lecture 1 gives the chemical composition of the (1) universe, the (2) earth, and the (3) earth’s crust. Based upon your knowledge of stellar evolution and synthesis of the elements, explain how you would expect the chemical composition of the universe, the earth, and the earth’s crust to be different if our solar system had formed 10 billion years ago rather than 5 billion years ago.
