This section emphasizes the design of wood structural panels in horizontal roof and floor applications. An introduction to wood panels is provided as well as the sizing of panels and panel connections for vertical and horizontal loads according to Chapter 23 of the 1994 Uniform Building Code. Introductory information on roof to wall connection detailing is also provided.
This module has been subdivided into three secondary modules called - structural-use panels, vertical application, and horizontal diaphragms - each of which are further subdivided into topics and sub-topics. Directions for using each of the secondary modules are provided on the corresponding top pages. Six class periods have been reserved for this module.
