Chords and Anchorage

Example

Example: This example calculation is a continuation of the problem presented in the previous topic called Example. This problem demonstrates the design of the bond beam steel in a masonry wall to resist the diaphragm chord action.

  1. Consider the wind loading in the transverse direction:

  2. Check the chord design for wind in the long direction:

    • Since the required tension load is much lower than the load used to design the chord steel, by observation the chord design is good for longitudinal loading also.
