Sub-Module Objectives:
In this very short module, an introduction to the combining loads and the allowable stress load combination factor is presented.
Sub-Module Directions:
One class day will be devoted to discuss this module and accompanying project issues. To complete this module:
- Study the 3 sets of on-line lecture notes.
- Complete the reading assignment.
- Come to class prepared to discuss the notes, reading and project.
- Complete the final load phase of the project and submit as directed in the project area of the class.
On-Line Lecture:
Reading Assignment:- Breyer, Chapter 2, sections 2.8 and 2.16.
Problem Assignment:- Complete the example problem found in unbalanced loads by (1)drawing the V and M diagrams for each of the 3 conditions and (2)determining the critical shear and moment values.
Design Project Assignment:Go to the project area of this class and read the final load phase directions.
