Masonry


Module Objectives:
This module will cover the basic information you will need to design in concrete masonry.In addition it will acquaint you with the many ways of constructing in masonry. Reference is made to Chapter 21 of the 1994 and 1997 Uniform Building Code.

Module Directions:
To complete this module, you must work your way sequentially through the 4 topics; beginning with the Introduction and ending with Masonry Assembly Strength, as shown below in the module organizational structure shown below.



Two class days are devoted to this module. To complete the module you must:
  1. Study the 4 sets, with associated sub-topics, of on-line lecture notes.
  2. Complete the reading assignment.
  3. Come to class prepared to discuss the following:
    • Day 1: Introduction and Design Philosophy.
    • Day 2: Components and Assembly Strength.
  4. Complete the homework assignment and submit on Day 3 as directd in the homework schedule.
