Topic Objectives:
The analytical procedures for the consideration of pure compression in walls is presented in this topic. This preliminary information is needed prior to the design and analysis of walls in combined bending and compression. In addition, these wall compression techniques are useful concepts for the design of masonry columns and pilasters.

Topic Directions:
One class day is devoted to this topic. To complete this topic, you must:
  1. Study the 2 sets of on-line lecture notes.
  2. Complete the reading assignment.
  3. Come to class prepared to discuss this entire topic.
