David Schlosberg, Ph.D.

Professor and Chair
Department of Politics and International Affairs

Northern Arizona University

Professor Schlosberg's general interests are in political theory and environmental politics.  He teaches courses on Ideologies, Modern and Contemporary Political Thought, and Political Power, as well as on Environmental Movements, Environmental Political Theory, and the relationship between Environmental Science and Politics.

His theoretical research deals with issues of pluralization, difference, justice, and discursive democracy in contemporary theory and political life; his environmental research focuses mainly on environmental democracy and participation, environmental justice, as well as the political theory, tactics, and organization of U.S. environmental and environmental justice movements. Recent projects include an examination of the meaning of "justice" in environmental and ecological justice, a study of web-based participation in environmental rulemaking, and a study of deliberative public participation in the planning of forest management.
