Using WebCT
to Discuss Readings
While working with your team on the Grand Canyon project, you will use
WebCT to discuss the online readings assigned for your team from The
Grand Canyon: An Anthology. Here are some specific instructions for
using WebCT for this purpose.
- All members of the group will read all of the articles in the section
assigned for your group from The Grand Canyon: An Anthology.
- In addition, each member of the group will be responsible for a specific
article from the readings. That student will be the "point person" for
that specific article. The group will work together to decide how specific
articles are assigned to members of the group. If there are more articles
than members in the group, the team will discuss how to handle this
situation. Either one student may take more than one article, or the
group as a whole will work on the addition articles.
- Each team member will write and share relevant study questions for
the article he/she is assigned (approximately five questions, more or
less as appropriate). In addition, the student appointed as the "point
person" for the article will lead the group discussion in WebCT on the article.
- Members of the group will work together to determine the schedule
and order of group discussions in WebCT. As a rule of thumb, probably
one to two articles per week should be discussed.
- Now go into WebCT and determine the schedule of group discussions for your group. You will be asked to share your schedule with your instructor.
Once you have completed this assignment you should:
