To complete this assignment successfully, you should:

  1. Study the assignment carefully
  2. Complete the assignment as directed

Develop a Webpage, in cooperation with other members of the class, which explores contemporary detective/mystery fiction. This page should center on one of the following:

a. A contemporary author writing Western Fiction: Larry McMurtry, Loren Estleman, Ralph Compton, H.A.DeRosso, Cormac McCarthy (Be Careful! Genre writers often switch genres. Make certain you have a WESTERN by the writer you select before you invest too much time in reading it.)

b. A contemporary treatment of a traditional figure in the Western: the Cowboy, the Gunfighter, the Judge, the Greedy Rancher, the Abused Farmer, the Sheriff, the Outlaw, etc.

c. A contemporary treatment of a theme and setting common to several Western narratives: the quest: for wealth, for home, for justice, for vengeance, etc. The desire for power. The creation of Law. etc.

A work or works of fiction should be at the center of your presentation, but you may draw from other materials in popular culture that are relevant, such as materials presented in film or on television. The site should include links useful in furthering the understanding of your topic, a narrative section of at least 750 words exploring your topic, and appropriate graphics or other media that strengthen your presentation. This website must be completed by the end of this module. When complete, please send me the exact URL.
