WEB TERM PROJECT
Purpose: The purpose of this project, which may be done individually or in a group of no more than 3 members, is to design and create a hospitality-related Web site. The learning objectives are:

To construct a Web site based on sound design principles and business theory.
·
To identify the sequence of steps necessary to build an effective site.
·
To gain hands-on experience using various technology tools to design and create the Web site.
·
To engender creative and analytical thinking in the development of a realistic business product.
·
To grasp the impact of the Web on the hospitality business world.
Requirements:
- Web site must consist of at least separate five pages.
- It must have at least three images.
- Sound, video, and animation not required.
- Free Web site links can be found at this site. Look at bottom of page for free web site links.
- Will provide training on how to create Web pages.
This project is divided into three assignments
:
Assignment I - Due September 17.
- What is going to be your Web site’s subject matter? Who is your target audience? Submit this electronically via e-mail or as hard copy.
- Review a Web site that you are going to use as a model? Each member of the group should submit an independent review of a Web site that will have the same target audience. Send copies to team members. Please access this site for the evaluation questions. You can submit this portion of the assignment electronically or as hard copy.
Assignment II - Due October 15
This is a team endeavor with a single submission. Submit the following:
- Cover page with Web site title and team members.
- Specific objectives of the Web site (e.g., reducing selling costs, recruiting employees, attracting tourists, growing customer relationships, etc.))
- A one-page flow chart and content outline using Microsoft Word or PowerPoint (organizational chart autolayout). Visit this site for information on how to do a simple flow chart.
- A storyboard using PowerPoint (use print handout option, two slides per page). Visit this site for storyboard examples. It should include:

a storyboard for each page where each is numbered.

all relevant details(color, graphics, sound, font, interactivity, visuals, etc.). Either specify font size (e.g., 12 point font size) or show visually (actual rendering).

all text or narration if possible.
III. Assignment III – Due November 15
Submit the following:
- Cover page with Web site title and team members.
- A totally working Web site on floppy or via URL. Visit this site for example of a product developed by Kyoko Hara during the fall 98 semester.
- In a maximum of three pages, answer the following questions based on this learning experience (each member complete this assignment separately):
- What have been the best and worst parts of this learning process?
- What parts of your Web site do you like best? Least?
- Show the Web site to at least three other people. What was their response to the Web site?
