Computers, computers - they are everywhere! In your home, in your car and at school. The hospitality industry has seen a dramatic increase in computer use over the past decade. It is hard to find a organization in our industry without some form of information technology. Courses about information technology generally include exposure to hardware and software used in the hospitality industry. Included are also industry specific applications such as property management systems, point of sale systems and sales and catering programs. Current information is necessary today for managers in order to maintain profit margins and to succeed in business.
Objectives:
1. To introduce basic concepts of hardware and software.
2. To familiarize you with property management software.
3. To introduce some of the back of the house applications available.
4. To provide an overview of software and hardware that can be interfaced with other systems in a hotel or restaurant.
5. To provide an overview of other software and hardware available to managers.
