Thank you for your interest in the Speech Language Pathology Assistant online certification program.  Below you will find information both on the program and how to register for the first course. In addition, information can be found online on the NAU Distance Learning website.

The 7 courses listed below, will lead to a certificate in Speech-Language Pathology Assistance (SLPA). Of course, all academic courses related to this program are provided online.

SST 302 SLPA Training: Adult Communication Disorders 3 Fall
SST 303 SLPA Training: Speech and Hearing Screening and Therapeautic Principles 3 Spring
SST 304 Case Studies and Management for Speech-Language Pathology Assistants 3 Spring


These 7 courses (21 hours) will result in the academic requirements for a Certificate as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant issued by NAU’s Program in Speech-Language Sciences and Technology. Upon completion of these courses, Speech-Language Pathology Assistants may work under the supervision of a certified Speech-Language Pathologist and command good hourly wages with opportunities to practice in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, Head Start programs, and other sites that treat individuals with communication disorders.
