To complete this assignment successfully, you should:

  2. Respond by writing a sample feature story about English as a second language.

In order to help others in the community realize the gravity of issues surrounding second language acquisition, write a feature story of a famous ersonality. Show them growing up speaking a foreign language in the home. Explore family and early community interactions, cultural embedding through favorite childhood stories, lullabies and sayings are not in English. Then contrast that with how it felt to go to school and the way the person felt and was treated. Finally, explore ways that our society or culture might enhance the experience and draw on the strengths of this background.

If this is a true story for you, please be detailed in exploring personal feelings, experiences, the way your family felt - or still feels and issues that might enhance things for future children entering the classroom with these experience.
