Meeting the spirit of IDEA '97
Print out the sample documents
that provide a template for setting up a Child Study Team and write a
short critique, explaining how you would use the suggested forms to meet
the spirit of IDEA '97, either "as is"or enhanced with your
personal changes. Remember that certain Federal and State regulations
apply, but there is still much room for a unique teacher approach or district
specific guidelines.
Suggested Topics for consideration in the Brief Critique
What is the spirit of the law?
What are the distinct regulations that apply to the preassessment phase?
How can we measure success?
Will a student always move into the IEP process and be given a full educational
battery of assessments?
Identify the people involved in the Child Study Team Process
