Web Activity 2:
Review laws that pertain to special education
Review the most obvious laws that address special education. It may come
as a surprise to you to find out that it was still legal in 1958 to sterilize
a people, against their wishes, to prevent retardation or similar genetic
traits from being passed on. In the mid 1980's the US legislature was
debating the right of parents or a hospital staff to stop feeding a youngster
with Down syndrome, based on lack of intelligence and quality of life.
