Interview a Special Ed Leader
Find a community leader in your area. Set up an interview with this leader
and ask him/her to outline the kinds of resources that are available in
your community. Using the information from your interview, fill out the
check list. In the form below, list the services that are lacking in your
community. Spend two hours going from one resource to the next picking
up business cards and brochures that describe services and file them in
a separate folder called Community Resources.
Note: If you are unable to locate a local SP ED leader, use the local
phone book to find resources. Feel free to call some of the resource numbers
and ask for information. .
Rubric
Excellent: The list is organized and specific to one locale. There
are at least 20 names and phone numbers from a diverse group of service
providers. The student shares findings with others. In the case of the
BJ assignment, the names were developed after talking with a specialist
in the field and there is a WebCT listing of 20 or more agencies or groups
who provide services.
Good: There is evidence of a search with at least 10 agencies
and phone numbers represented in the list.
Once you have finished you should:
Go on to Online Lesson 2
or
Go back to Busy BJ
