Prepare Folders and Write Summaries
To complete this assignment successfully, you should:
- Study the readings and secret files carefully
- Respond with an appropriate summary
- Fill in your Name and Email address

Get ten folders and label each with one of the ten service categories
[i.e. Hearing impaired, LD, EBD] from IDEA 1997. You may also wish to
add a folder for gifted and another for providing services to students
who are considered "at-risk" Develop and print out a one page
description of each category to place in the front of individual folders.
Send each description summary to the instructor when completed. The following
is an example, but you may change it to meet your own requirements.

Read chapters 4 - 12 in the Smith text and certify completion of the readings.
The following is a list of readings in that text: Chapters 4 - 12; Chapter 14 ; with special emphasis on Chapter sub-topics are
found troughout the book.
CLUE: SECRET FILES: In addition to the chapters, there are very special
"secret" files that will make your job easier and point to excellent
sources of information on the web. You can access these files from the
directory
page:
Make notes and place ideas in the appropriate folders you created. Now
place notes and ideas from the readings in the appropriate folders as
you begin to build a directory of ideas and materials for successfully
teaching and caring for students by implementing IDEA 97 as a teacher.
Send each description summary to the instructor. [If you do one that would
be a gift to others in the class and want to share, feel free to let me know I can send it to your peers via email- that way
Holmes will not tumble to our discrete interconnectedness, but we will
gain from your insightfulness and make progress faster as a team.
Remember, you can print this form to keep a copy handy. Also, you can
copy the table, put it in a program and then print it for future reference.
