Grading Scheme

 

7-9 Homework Assignments (some Board, some Turned-in, ALL in Notebook):           20%

7-9 simple Mathematica Assignments:                                                             10%

4-6 Quizzes:                                                                                                                 10%

3-5 Projects (Applications, Scientific Computing):                                                         20%

Midterm:                                                                                                                      15%

Comprehensive Final:                                                                                        25%

Important:       Keep homework and corrected quizzes / tests in a neat organized notebook.  I will collect and grade this notebook during tests and/or final. Typically this notebook can make a 1/2 letter grade difference!

           

Homework will be assigned, some of which may be presented by students at the board, some collected, all to be placed in the notebook.

 

Suggestion:      Obtain phone/email info of reliable classmate(s) for missed assignments.

 

Attendance:     This will affect your daily grade.  No makeups without verifiable written 

excuse.  Point deduction for late work.  Makeups given (possibly orally) during Reading Week.

 

Sections covered will be as scheduled for tests below with additional sections selected from: 2.9, 2.11, 3.8, , 3.9, 4.2, 5.8 + Ch. 5 background, 9.5 + Ch. 9 background,

 

T1,   9/27: 8.1, 1.1-1.3, 2.1-2.8 + additional selections.

T2, 10/28: 8.3, 3.1-3.7, 4.1 + additional selections.

T3, 12/2:   7.1-7.8, 9.1 + additional selections.
