I am Professor of Anthropology at Northern Arizona University, the author
of Eloquence in Trouble: Poetics and Politics of Complaint in Rural Bangladesh,
and the editor of Social and Cultural Lives of Immune Systems. I
have completed a new manuscript, Crying Shame: Metaculture, Modernity
and Lament, which I plan to use as the basis of a global documentary
film. My research interests include semiotics, representations, and
issues surrounding language and globalization.
