Building on the concept of existentialism, look at how
people have chosen to act in the face of facticity. As we examine
liberation strategies of Latin Americans, African-Americans, Indigenous
Peoples, please notice how forcefully the arts communicate themes of liberation:
Consciousness raising
communicating the nature of the problem(s)
identifying specific aspects of the problem
encouraging the community to become more aware of itself
and its history (power through self knowledge)
identifying contributions that members of the wronged
community have made to society
