I'm employed in Flagstaff, Arizona at Northern Arizona University's Cline Library where I have enjoyed working for over twenty years. I provide a range of services to enhance student learning. I've acquired diverse skills as I have supervised a course support team for the College of Education, the largest NAU college, managed the day to day operations of a media collection, ordered Library materials, cataloged serials, electronic resources, books, video and sound recordings, completed name and subject authority tasks, as well as have provided reference assistance for over eight years.
July 2007 – present: as Academic Course Support Librarian on the Health and Human Services Library Team I partner with faculty to enhance student learning, as well as staffing the Library’s Front Desk in providing reference assistance.
March 2003 – July 2007: provide reference services to distance learners, faculty, and staff for library resources available 24/7. As Education Team Leader, I worked with faculty to promote student learning through activities such as integrating library resources into courses, providing course support library sessions, one on one research consultations, as well as partnering with education faculty for research assignments and developing the library collection on education.
May 2001- March 2003: I cataloged journals and electronic products, as well as government documents, and completed acquisitions ordering tasks as part of the Ordering/Receiving Team. I was involved as a subject specialist in collection development of library materials for Asian Studies. I also provided reference assistance at the Reference Desk.
Nov. 1995-April 2001: Primary person in Cline Library charged with creating name and subject authority records for bibliographic records. I cataloged video and sound recordings, as well as books. I initiated working on the reference desk in June, 1998. This proved successful, so I continue to staff the Reference Desk five hours a week.
1993-Nov. 1995: As Library Supervisor, I provided reference assistance on the Media Services desk, as well as managed the circulation of the video and sound recording collection. Heavily involved in collection development activities of the media collection. Supervised staff and students in providing services for a public service area open seven days a week.
July 1991-1993: Worked in the Nursing Department at Northern Arizona University 20 hours a week and worked in the Minority Recruitment and Retention Office in the Nursing Department 20 hours a week. Assisted students and faculty in person and on the phone, as well as providing office support.
Jan. 1984-March 1990: Began as a Library Assistant and was promoted to Library Supervisor in the Film/Video area of Media Services at NAU's Cline Library. As supervisor, managed the circulation of the video collection, supervised staff and students, assisted in collection development tasks and provided reference assistance.
1982-1984: As a freelance videographer I created video productions for Iris Video, the Minnesota Humanities Commission, the American Institute of Architects, the University of Minnesota School of Architecture and the magazine, "Alternative Sources of Energy."
1978-1981: Managed the circulation and reserves of the Architecture Library at the University of Minnesota, as well as supervised student workers. Provided reference assistance and cataloged library materials.
1974-1978: Worked in two special libraries at the University of Minnesota while a student employee: the School of Architecture Library, as well as the Built Environment Communication Center, where I created videos in a video library.
