    To assist you further, within each category  is a picture of the flower, a listing of the Common Main Entry name, listing of  it's Synonym, a Bloom Time category (spring, summer, fall), whether it is a Bulb or Seed, Sun or Shade requirement, and whether it is a short, medium or tall stemmed flower.  The height of the stem can help you in not only planning your garden design, but also in giving you varities of height for flower arrangement. Glossary:

Annual plants: botanically an annual is a plant which completes its life cycle from seed to seed within one growing season (which in the mountain climate can be less than six months.)

Medium stemmed: defined as more than 6 inches but less than 12 inches.

Perennial plants: plants that complete at least three growing seasons.

Short stemmed: defined as 12 inches or less.

Tall stemmed: defined as more than 12 inches.
