Objectives:

design” and “research methodology.”

and qualitative research methodologies.

it is established in quantitative and qualitative research.

experimental, quasi-experimental, and non-experimental.

Discuss the strengths and weaknesses
of the above designs.

problems associated with the research designs.

Specify reasons for conducting
non-experimental
research.

Describe the relative advantages and
disadvantages of retrospective and prospective studies.

Identify areas in nursing research where
qualitative approaches are likely to be especially fruitful.

Discuss the basic procedures that are
generally applied in qualitative analysis.

Describe the phenomenological, grounded
theory approach and ethnographic approach.

Evaluate the appropriateness of the
