Example 3:

Level 1: Domains and linking tones (NT and PT) are indicated.
Level 2: Linking tones are removed and domains converted to simultaneities. Notice how this eliminates pitch repetition. Also, notice the 1-5-1 pattern in the bass, the fundamental bass arpeggio.
Level 3: Some octave doublings are removed. The bass line is preserved. The linking function of the middle domain is shown. The 1-5-1 bass is preserved. The outer structure (soprano and bass) have special significance.
Level 4: The middle domain is removed and the other domains consolidated into one. This reduction flirts with over generalization but, because this is a short span example, would be part of a larger context (ursatz -- see example 9).
