If Our Prayers Were Music [play]

Gary Alan Miller

Can you hear me?
Can you hear my voice?
Do you know who I am,
Or can't you see?

I am a people,
I am the cry of the baby
Wanting for its mother,
Hear it.

And from the outside,
I'm looking in at a world
That is deaf to its kin.
O source of peace, Save us.

Hear me now,
Lift your voice in prayer.

If our prayers were music,
We could sing a song
Into the world we want for us
And for all the world to listen.

Words don't always speak
For us or who we are.

The time has come for us
To seek out our own self
And welcome peace,
Now, for all the world, forever.

Sing a song of no words.
Sing a song of love understood.
O source of peace,
Hear our prayer.
