What is LDAP? I'm so glad you asked. LDAP stands for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol. LDAP is a system that keeps information about people such as their names, addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, workgroups, etc. It's a useful system for looking up people in your organization, kind of like an electronic version of the telephone book. If you've used the Find People function on NAU's web page, then you've used LDAP. But haven't you noticed that it's kind of slow, and that you usually need this information when you're working in Eudora? Wouldn't it be nice if Eudora could look up people directly? Well, your wish has come true. Follow these simple steps to set up LDAP "Directory Services" lookups direct from your Eudora address book. Now how cool is that?
How to set it up:
1. Open Eudora and choose Special/Settings.
2. Select the Hosts icon.
3. In the Ph/LDAP Server box, paste the following string: ldap://ldap.nau.edu/ou=people,dc=nau,dc=edu

How to use it:
1. Open the Eudora Address Book and click the Directory Services tab.
2. Type a name or partial name in the "Enter query" box. Really handy if you're not sure of the spelling. If you enter something too common, you may get an error, or a lot of results, so be as specific as you can.
3. Click the "Lookup" button.
