Why use the VPN? NAU has various wireless access points (WAPs) around campus, and you can use your Mac with Airport to connect wirelessly to the Internet after first connecting to the NAU VPN. The VPN creates a secure wireless connection. The VPN also enables you to send e-mail from your NAU account while connected to the Internet via a third-party Internet service provider.
1. Open the
application from the
folder
2. From the File menu, choose New VPN Connection... and select PPTP (point to point tunneling protocol)
3. The Server address is vpn.nau.edu and you should enter your JAN or DANA username and password.

4. Check the box that says "Show VPN status in menu bar" to add
the VPN icon
to your menu bar for a quick way to connect in future.
5. Click Connect and watch the Status indicator as a connection is established. Be sure to disconnect when done.
6. If your attempt to connect is denied, it may be that your password has expired. At NAU, Windows users are prompted to change their password every 45 days. Mac users will need to change their password manually. Below is the address to change your password:

8. Next time you want to connect to the VPN, just go to the VPN icon in the menu bar and choose Connect.
