Principles of Evidence Based Practice

This course is an analysis of the process associated with Evidence Based Practice. Learning ojectives include understanding what is meant by this process, the need for such an approach, and learning the skills to be successful in utilizing evidence. The five steps associated with the process of evidence based practice as defined by the Sicily Statement on EBP are the basis for the skills taught during this experience. These include:

1. Creating a focused question upon which to base the search for evidence.
2. Searching for evidence.
3. Critically analyzing the evidence.
4. Applying the evidence
5. Evaluating your efforts for future questions.
