2. Intro to LyX
- HW: produce the following
quiz .
Replace my name with yours. Keep all the features, including typefaces and placements.
Give me a hard copy on which I can make comments.

- HW: write an article about the quadratic formula. You need the have all the parts we discussed in class
including sections, theorems, proofs, examples, figures, cross references, citations, etc.

5. 9/27 (Ian Douglas) Tikz
- HW: use Tikz to create a collaboration graph of the faculty members in the department.
The size of a vertex should indicate the number of publications in refereed journals.
The thickness of an edge shold indicate the number of joint publications.
Make the layout of the vertices attractive. Avoid edge crossings if possible. The graph
is most likely planar.
Use mathscinet or zentralblatt to get data for mathematicians. Interview statisticians and math educators.
