| The Associated Students of Northern
Arizona University kicked off the
Safe Ride program last week and it
will continue throughout the year.
The program utilizes a Mountain Campus
Transit bus and runs Thursday and
Saturday nights from 9:30 pm until
2 am from campus to the downtown area
in an attempt to curb drunk driving.
The bus is free to NAU students but
everyone must have an NAU student
ID card to get on the bus. ASNAU funded
the $8,000 project themselves, and
they are looking for sponsors to keep
the program running next year. For
more information contact ASNAU at
928-523-4971, or click here. |

avoid getting sick: vitamins, lots of sleep,
and actually attending class. And remember,

| Important Financial Aid Message:
With all the fun things that are
happening at this time of year,
it is easy for students to overlook
some of the boring administrative
details, such as ensuring that they
have done all they need to do to
have financial aid pay their fall
2003 semester fees. Two groups of
students are at risk of having their
courses deleted on the evening of
Friday, September 12th. The first
group involves students who are
registered for classes, but who
have not yet paid for those classes
nor do they have enough financial
aid to cover the fees owed. These
students must arrange for payment
of fees prior to the end of the
business day September 12. If you
son or daughter falls into this
category, please contact the Office
of the Bursar for further details.
mailto:Bursar@nau.edu
The second group of students that
will be impacted by "the delete"
are those who DO have enough financial
aid, but have something which is
blocking the payment process. The
most common reason, is not being
registered for enough hours.....but
there are other possible causes.
To avoid any heartaches, please
advise your son or daughter to check
LOUIE to make sure they do not owe
anything or have any holds that
would prevent their financial aid
from paying fees. As we will be
sending emails out to financial
aid students who fall in the latter
category and NAU representatives
will also attempt to reach them
by phone, your son or daughter should
also be encouraged to check their
NAU Dana email accounts regularly
and to make sure that their phone
numbers are current on LOUIE. If
they have any questions, have them
contact our office right away.

Regardless
how long your child has been an
NAU student, you could have a touching
or funny story about your child
or yourself and the university.
Let us know! In a future issue of
the Back Pack we will profile some
of these (If you don't want your
name included let us know!) to share
with everyone. You can email us
at Parent.Association@nau.edu.
Also, make sure to check out our
new Parents Association website
at www.nau.edu/parents.
